SB 866 Action steps for May 30th to June3rd.

CALL TO ACTION.

SB 866 will be heard in the Assembly Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, June 1st at 8:30am. It is first on the agenda. This is the only committee before going to the Assembly floor, then Governor’s desk. They are trying to fast track this bill. We must stop this now. Judiciary committee has 7 democrat legislators that we need to persuade to vote NO or ABSTAIN.

LOBBYING AT THE CAPITOL THIS WEEK.

Tuesday and Wednesday we will be at the Capitol meeting with almost 80 Assembly people to lobby against SB 866.

ACTION STEPS YOU CAN DO:

Monday, May 30th

  • It is a holiday, but you still call to leave a message at Capitol offices. Tell them in a firm but professional tone to vote NO or ABSTAIN on SB 866

  • Submit your letter of opposition to legislative portal (Deadline has passed for bill analysis but can still be in legislative record.)

  • Directly email Assembly Judiciary Committee members to be sure they receive your opposition.

  • In addition to calls and emails, please take part in #NOonSB866 Video Campaign

Tuesday, May 31st

  • ALL DAY. Call and email the Assembly Judiciary Committee Members in their Capitol offices. Ask them to "VOTE NO or ABSTAIN" on SB866.

  • Submit your letter of opposition to legislative portal and email legislator directly to be sure they receive it.

Wednesday, June 1st

My name is _______, I [live, work, own a business] in Assembly member_____district. I strongly oppose SB 866, lowering the age of consent to vaccination to age 12. I am demanding assembly member__________ oppose this bill.

PHONE CALL TIPS:

When contacting legislators:

  • Call (D) Senators or Assembly members on roster list.

    • Give them the districts zip code when asked.

    • Tell them to vote NO or ABSTAIN on these bills.

  • Call after hours to leave a message if you are not in district, so your calls will be trashed. Simply state your name and opposition.

  • Fridays call district offices (as the legislators are in their home offices.

Concentrate on the (D) legislators: Call and email directly these legislators to oppose SB 866, call district offices on Friday. Then both Capitol and district offices all weekend through Tuesday.
