Oppose AB 659 - HPV/Cancer Prevention Act (Aguiar-Curry)

AB 659 declares a state policy that it is "expected" for attendance but exempted homeschoolers to be fully immunized against human papillomavirus (HPV) before admission or advancement to the 8th grade level of any private or public school.

The bill would also require the governing authority to submit to all students before they enter the 6th grade and their parents or guardians a notification statement about that public policy and advising that the pupil be fully immunized against HPV before admission or advancement to the 8th grade level.

This bill would also declare the public policy of the state that students who are 26 years of age or younger are expected to be fully immunized against HPV before first-time enrollment at an institution of the California State University, the University of California, or the California Community Colleges.

take action by asking the Assembly members to tell the author to amend the language to "recommend" instead of "expected" or remove the school notification section all together.  If not, then vote No or Abstain on AB 659.

AB 659 ACTION CAMPAIGN

Please insert your own words into body of email to send a message asking the Assembly members to OPPOSE AB 659, unless language is amended to reflect a recommendation instead of a requirement.

Example: "AB 659 language needs to reflect that HPV vaccine is a recommendation not a requirement. Remove the word 'expected' and replace with 'recommendation' in the bill." Or remove the school portion all together.” Vote NO or ABSTAIN if these amendments are not made.

Also call the Latino Caucus on Tuesday, May 30th at 9am.
